"Holiday Girl" by Kshiraki is a soundtrack to the 'chillest Mode 7 SNES racing game' never made. These nine tracks are perfect for staring out of a window and daydreaming. Kshiraki is an electronic artist from Kanagawa Prefecture, Japan with a sassy, sophisticated sound and a charming back catalogue. This is some sunny afternoon pack-a-picnic-and-hold-hands-with-your-homies type shit. Applying jazz fundamentals to chiptune compositions has always been a winning formula. The precise and deliberate constraints in which tracker music is made make riffing on a square wave inherently interesting. Favourite tracks: "Morning Sun" and "Train Travel". FFO: Derris-Kharlan, Keiji Tamagishi and Elektrobear. Find more of their music below! kshiraki2.bandcamp.com
Multi genre artist ぷにぷに電機 aka punipunidenki aka Puniden creates music spanning a wide range of influences but what remains consistent throughout every release is a sense of elegance. It is generally quite difficult to find future funk or city pop built from the ground up with original vocals but on many of Puniden's albums this is achieved with incredible attention to detail. A good example can be seen in Puniden's collaboration with vapor legend ミカヅキBIGWAVE on the "MIRAI addiction" EP just a few months prior to the release we are here to discuss. "Wonder Underground" is a latin jazz inspired 4 song EP with outstanding vocal work and warm playful instrumentals. Bedroom pop and breathy bossa...
Kawaii bass, anime samples, modular synth sounds and trap fundamentals. "Moestorm" is the newest EP from electronic artist tomatoism from Yokohama, Japan. A favourite of KOF crew member Lil Kevo 303. Genre wise they dabble in all things adorable. Creating future funk that is fun and glitchy, future bass that is super clean and emotionally uplifting and even a little fast and flirty breakcore. This release is darling from front to back. I encourage you to follow tomatoism on soundcloud where they are the most active! Favourite track "Riamu". FFO: In Love With a Ghost, Lil Kevo 303, punipunidenki Find more of their music below! tomatoism.bandcamp.com soundcloud.com/tomatoism
Couple N is an artist with an audibly adorable discography, boasting an impressive catalogue of songs, having only been active since 2018. They have almost no information about themselves anywhere but what I can tell you for sure is that they live in Japan and make enchanting downtempo kawaii bass. "Magical Pieces" is a relaxing 5 track adventure full of sparkling synths, future bass fundamentals and wonderful use of piano and guitar sounds. Favourite track "EARMIE". FFO: Zakku, Yunomi and Ujico*/Snail's House Find more of their music below! couple-n.bandcamp.comsoundcloud.com/couple-n-music
Popsicle Theory is a criminally underrated chiptune artist from the Netherlands who has, since 2006, consistently produced emotionally engaging dance music often with just a single LSDJ cart. Her newest release, 5 song EP entitled "Kaleidoscope" is exactly that. Possibly her best work to date these songs are adorable, punchy and fun. Popsicle Theory is one of those artists that actually makes you want to buy a Little Sound DJ. FFO: Chipzel, Polly Pocket and Breakbeat Heartbeat.
